The eleventh episode of TuriyaTalks, Season 6 had Dr. Anonna Guha, Managing director, Nrityanjali Group and Sohini Roychowdhury, Founder and Director, Sohinimoksha World Dance and Communications. They discussed on 'Empowerment Through Dance', with our host Sandhya Sutodia, the co-founder of Turiya Communications LLP. The session was held on 12th December 2020.
Miss Sohini Roychowdhury shared her insights on the happiest moments of her dance career by talking about when she was invited to dance for Danny Boy, it made her ecstatic. Then she talked about bringing social awareness through dance, spreading happiness and empowering women. A lot of her project revolves around women empowerment and empowering the under privileged section of the society. She also talked about breaking the barrier of gender discrimination and to see dance as a form of art and it needs no gender. She also mentioned when one loves something one should be totally into it. She believes in art without any obligation as dance creates an environment of happiness and also shared her views that if one is happy with oneself only then can one be kind towards the world and be constructive.
Dr. Anonna Guha shared her views on the genre that she likes the most, that is Kathak. She shared her insights on how she evolved as a dancer improving on a regular basis. She also talked about how people get delusion of being a great dancer without even getting a proper training.
They conclude by emphasizing on how dance can impact certain human lives. It is important to be aware of ourselves first because only then shall the world be aware of us.
